Co-Parenting Education: Many families experience changes that result from parents divorcing. Effective co-parenting is the process by which two parents in separate homes can keep their focus on the major task at hand, raising their child(ren) through the use of cooperation and healthy communication. Co-parenting is independent of the placement schedule; placement is just where the children will be sleeping and who is chiefly responsible for their care on any particular day. Co-parenting, on the other hand, involves a spirit of cooperation, good and consistent communication and structures that are put into place to help coordinate the parenting in two different homes. These “tools” are applied to many things, such as helping a child in school, the routines of daily living, giving baths, teaching responsibility, rules and discipline, etc. The goal of Co-Parenting Education is to assist parents in reaching mutually acceptable guidelines for parenting their children in a similar manner in each respective parental home. Successful Co-Parenting is provided through a two parent counseling approach or through the format of Successful Co-Parenting Classes.
