Educational Advocacy: When a child, adolescent or adult is having problems in their school setting, a therapist can help them discover what is at the root of their needs or issues, help problem solve ways to overcome any obstacles they might have and assist with developing a plan for them to utilize in achieving success in their academics, as well as in their personal life. Counselors often will communicate with school staff to gain their perspective on the problems or issues, so they can then coordinate and advocate for their client’s educational needs.
